Oshiomole Presents 2015 budget of N156.551b

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomole, on Tuesday, September 23rd, presented a budget of the N156.551b size for the 2015 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.

The budget was tagged “Budget of Developmental Consolidation”, the governor clarified that the budget was formulated to fulfil the consolidation of the administration’s development agenda, focusing on the core sectors of the government, viz: infrastructure, education and health.

According to the Governor, the budget consists of N87.56billion, representing 55.77 per cent of the total budget, as capital expenditure and the proposed recurrent expenditure is N68.99 billion, representing 44.23 percent of the total budget.

Oshiomole further analyzed the sectoral distribution of the proposed budget, N18.5 billion for the environment and education sector, N18.1 billion; road infrastructure, N16.95 billion; health, N9.295 billion; judiciary, N2.955bn; agriculture, N1.005 billion for water resources and water supply, N0.981 billion and N0.500 billion for electrification of rural area in the capital budget for the energy sub-sector.

The governor stated “more work is ahead because for whom much is given, much is expected. We are also racing against time I am sure that this realization will inform the disposition of this honourable House to this budget proposal for 2015 fiscal year.”


Conclusively, he said “let me at this stage once again place my deep appreciation to Mr. Speaker and honourable House for their cooperation and support extended to their executive arm, which in no small measure accounted to the positive achievements of this administration.”
